This week we finished and sent specialized emails to all of the owners of Jerry's Famous Deli, Tender Greens, Ruby’s Diner, Boulevard Burgers, and TK Burgers. Some owners even own multiple restaurants. We let the restaurants know what negative comments people have said about their restaurant and what we have noticed regarding how they deal with food allergies. Then we let the restaurants know the solutions to all of the bad elements of their restaurant and how changing their ways can benefit their business. In the email, we also referred them to our website so they can receive more useful information. We were planning to visit the restaurants that replied with a positive response. However, not one restaurant has responded yet, which worries us.
We finished our poster board which shows the problem, solution, and next step with our project. We included some data, but the most important part, the restaurants’ willingness to participate in changing their restaurant was not collected yet. Our group is starting to fall behind so we hope that we do not run out of time to positively change these restaurants.

Email to the manager of Jerry's Deli
Hello! I go to Windward school, and for a science project, I am trying to improve the lives of people with food allergies.
Restaurants are where most allergic reactions occur. I am trying to improve restaurants that do not deal exceptionally well with allergies. On a website called AllergyEats, people who have visited restaurants rate them up to five stars on how they deal with specific allergies. Currently, many restaurants like Hugo’s Restaurant and the Farm Stand are rated five star on AllergyEats. This is because they use methods to accommodate people with food allergies.
Your restaurant was rated below two stars on AllergyEats, with reviews stating that the chefs and waiters could not complete requests asking to prepare and cook food separately. When we called your restaurant, a staff member said that you can make no promises that people won't have an allergic reaction at your restaurant and it would probably be best to go to a different restaurant. By improving your restaurant’s allergy-friendliness, you will have better reviews and gain the trust of many people, giving you more business from the millions of Americans with food allergies. The good thing is that these changes are quick, easy, and profitable.
Some changes you can make are:

Some changes you can make are:
- Have separate cooking stations for certain foods and clean these stations regularly.
- Often switching out the gloves used by chefs in the kitchens
- Ask the customers if they have a food allergy and how severe it is before taking their order
- Having an allergen menu or mark items with allergens on the menus
- Give training to employees and many more
